This newsletter arrived in my inbox as I arrived in Galle, trying to slow down in the last leg of my 2 weeks trip to Sri Lanka.

Loved reading your experience 👍

It was refreshing to read your blog after quite a while.

This was very nice Ila. It reminded me of a delicious dinner I had at one of my Sri Lankan friend’s house in Singapore. Sri Lanka has always been on my Travel list since forever.

Wish you a happy new year :)

"reiterating that while breathtaking landscapes and great food are what we most often seek from travel, it’s always the human interactions - however fleeting - that stand out and stay with us." - Loved this and very inspired to take a Srilankan holiday this year.

Well well well if it is Ila,

Sorry I meant well well well if isn't ila

Sorry what I mean is well well well if not it is...nevermind. You know(?) what I mean.

It is good to read about your travels ila. Very smart you are becoming tricking us all to believe that 'work takes me to Sri Lanka' and all that. I sell used tissue boxes, full time. I never get to go anywhere, sometimes not even to my own home. So well played.

I will not BS around anymore but I would say - I was sheepishly hoping I will read an end of the year post from you about the places* you have gone to and have not written about. I know there is a post in there somewhere. Still, an old man can be greedy, what with limited time on earth and all that.

Thank you so much for giving us this piece and now I cannot wait to talk about Pol Sambol to my Sri lankan peers and correct them about facts about Galle even though I knew nothing about Galle till about 15 mins back.

Lastly, you have got to tell us - what camera is it that you use? The middle pic of the boat on the shore is just....Pol Sambol
