What story, and what pictures! I am reading this at 9 am, so I don't appreciate the amazing pictures of food you've placed in my line of sight, but everything else is trademark 10/10!
Also, those first few lines set the piece up so well.
Thank you for reading! Bracing myself to write the next three posts… will be difficult to do justice to each of these fabulous places and all that we experienced!!
Oh wow, thanks for sharing! Fascinating read, especially all the conversations he describes. Unlike Thailand, the Indian sex tourists weren’t as visible to me here, but who knows. Perur’s book ‘If It’s Monday It Must Be Madurai’ from which this is excerpted has been on my TBR list forever! This piece makes me want to read it right away…
This is such a rich travelogue! I started planning my Uzbekistan trip as soon as you met your guide in the first few paragraphs of this piece.
Haha! Thank you :)
Lovely post, Ila! ❤️
It would be great to see more context about your photos. I’d especially love to hear more details about the metro image. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your feedback, Aditi! I've added captions to the photos now. You can also read more about each of the metro stations' themes in the link mentioned in the post. Resharing it here - https://www.journalofnomads.com/best-metro-tashkent-photo-guide/

Haha, thank you Sarthak! :)
It is a good read. It has refreshed my memory of the trip. Eagerly waiting for Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.

Uzbekistan keeps popping up on my timeline and in conversations with friends. Have to plan a trip soon. Enjoyed this, looking forward to the next one!
Btw, Srinath Perur has an essay on Uzbekistan that explores a rather different part of Tashkent. :D

Yes, I read it there too! You'll love the book, it's fantastic.
