Lovely essay this week! If I ever have a chance to return to Delhi, I have some new places to visit. I wanted suggest another explorer of your city @thedelhiwallah and also drawing classes from @thesneakyartist for another way to see your city anew. Keeping Delhi in my thoughts every day.. May the prophecy come true.
Oh, the nostalgia! Thank you for taking me around my city while I isolate in a room that could be anywhere. I loved how you connected the book to your own memories... Looking forward to reading Whereabouts soon.
Your excursion around your neighborhood with the “mindfulness of Sherlock Holmes and the expansive sensitivities of Thoreau” reminded me of Alexandra Horowitz’s book On Looking: Eleven Walks with Expert Eyes - a record of her quest to walk around a city block with eleven different “experts,” from an artist to a geologist to a dog, and emerge with fresh eyes mesmerized by the previously unseen fascinations of a familiar world. Thank you for a very pleasant read on a weekend morning.
Never too late :) I lived two hours away from Lucknow for nearly three years and I too regret not exploring it enough. I hope we can make amends soon. Coincidently, my next post is about a place I've visited often but had seldom explored until recently. Look forward to your thoughts on that - for now, I'll just say #comingsoon :) Thanks so much for reading!
Meandering, such a beautiful word and I deeply connected with your meandering through your neighbourhood. It is something I do often and enjoy thoroughly. Discovering (re-discovering) the old and the new and seeing my neighourhood like I have not known before, its just so soothing and beautiful.
❤️

Thank you, Monica! I love Mayank's work and have signed up for Nishant's next urban sketching workshop :) Hope you get a chance to visit Delhi again.

Stayed 22 years in Lucknow. Didn’t explore it.
Read your post, now regretting that fact about me in Lucknow.
I wish you do more posts like this. I know you will
Thank you for this.
